Transnational Boxing Rankings Board's Rankings As of April 18- Canelo Abdicates
The Transnational Boxing Rankings Board's latest rankings- those based on fights held through April 16, 2017- were posted on the TBRB's website April 18, 2017. There were changes in three divisional top tens with the most noteworthy occurring at middleweight. Canelo Alvarez has abdicated the middleweight "throne" and is now ranked #3.

On April 11, during a conference call, Alvarez, when asked by TBRB member Jake Donovan of BoxingScene.com about his middleweight title status, responded, "I am not a middleweight champion. I was at one point, but I am no longer the middleweight champ." He went on to state, "I am a super welterweight champion. I'm not looking past May 6, but I do consider myself a middleweight and plan to campaign at 160 lbs."
