TTR RANKED FIGHTERS IN ACTION- May 2- Mayweather Denies Pacquiao Historical Achievement; Lomachenko and Santa Cruz Win
Pictured: Floyd "Money" Mayweather, Jr.

On Saturday, May 2, four boxers currently ranked by TTR as being among the best in their respective divisions were in action. Floyd "Money" Mayweather, Jr. outpointed Manny Pacquiao and in doing so, denied the Filipino congressman an historical achievement. Vasyl Lomachenko and Leo Santa Cruz also won in bouts held on the Mayweather-Pacquiao undercard.

That the much-anticipated "Fight of the Century" between Mayweather and Pacquiao, two of the most accomplished professional boxers of all-time, failed to live up to the hype is an understatement but the bout did see Mayweather deny Pacquiao another first. "The Pride of the Philippines", who has won world titles in eight different weight classes, was attempting to be the first fighter to capture lineal world titles in five divisions. He and Mayweather are the only boxers so far to have each won lineal championships in four.

With the victory, Mayweather regained the lineal world welterweight title he previously held from November 4, 2006 until he retired on June 6, 2008.
