Mundine and Sonny Bill Williams fight in support of KO to Drugs

Former WBA super middleweight boxing world champion Anthony "The Man" Mundine will relinquish his IBO middleweight world title for the chance to move down to junior middleweight when he takes on Carlos Adan Jerez for the WBA International junior middleweight title at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Australia on Wednesday 30 June 2010.

35 year-old Mundine 38-3 (23) will be joined on the card by international sporting superstar Sonny Bill Williams, with the rugby union player and former rugby league star to step onto the canvas for his second professional fight in support of the WBA KO to Drugs program.

Williams scored a 2nd round knock-out over Garry Gurr in his professional boxing debut in May last year and while recent reports suggest the off- contract star is likely to remain in Rugby Union, Williams' hasn't ruled out the possibility of pursuing a career in boxing sometime down the track.

"I'm focusing on June 30 now and stepping into the ring in support of KO to Drugs" Williams said at today's press conference.

"I love boxing and am extremely grateful of Choc (Mundine) for giving me a chance to feature on his card.

"I've incorporated boxing into my Rugby training in Toulon and can't wait to get out there again in a few weeks time."  Williams said.

Established in 1993, KO to Drugs is the World Boxing Association's annual anti-drug campaign aimed at raising funds for drug rehabilitation clinics around the world. This Event also marks the 10th anniversary of Mundine's professional boxing debut.
