A Little War
In a scintillating flyweight battle, Chris Edwards and Dale Robinson gave it their all in as they clashed for the vacant commonwealth and British titles.

The two men had previously fought with Edwards winning on a 8th round TKO in November last year. Robinson claimed he had come in under prepared for that one and indeed the bookies made him the favourite for this rematch. But Edwards after a career fought mainly as a journeyman proved that first win was no fluke as he fought a tremendous fight once again against his more experienced opponent.

Robinson started the brighter as he came out fast looking to make an early impression on his opponent from Stoke. Robinson looked lively and pushed Edwards onto the back foot in the first couple of sessions with sweeping punches and aggression.

Edwards coped with Robinsons early onslaught well though, and by the 3rd he was finding his range and started to catch Robinson on the way in with short jolting counters.

Edwards Vs. Robinson

Robinson's experience and guile enabled him to pull away slightly through the middle rounds as his defense was tighter and he landed the classier punches. At this stage it looked as though Robinson's class was going to be the deciding factor in the fight.

But by the 8th round the conditioning of Edwards began to take effect as he started to get to Robinson with his own insistant pressure.

Again Edwards looked the better in the 9th as he started to outwork the tiring Robinson. Both men were cut over both eyes but the cut over Robinson's left eye was particularly nasty and the doctor was called to take a look. He allowed the fight to continue but the momentum of the fight had clearly swung in Edwards favour and he poured it on.

Edwards Vs. Robinson

Entering the 10th the fight looked dead level and it was Edwards who looked to have firmly seized control of the fight as he outworked a fading Robinson down the stretch. The man from Huddersfield tried gamely to fight back but found himself tagged repeatedly with right hands.

At the final bell both men raised their arms aloft but it seemed as though Edwards had done enough.

However the judges couldn't decide and with scores reading 115-113, 113-115, and 114-114 the fight was declared a draw and the belts remained vacant.

I scored the fight for Edwards 115-113 and thought he was rather unfortunate to leave without being crowned a double champion.

However he proved emphatically that his win the first time around over the favoured Robinson was no fluke and he will take great confidence from that. It would seem that these two little warriors will surely have to meet again and a 3rd installment will be something not too miss!

Also on the bill Manchester light-middleweight Jamie Moore proved he belonged at world level as he convincingly beat the experienced two time world title challenger Sebastian Lujan.

Moore Vs. Lujan round 1-6 Highlights

Moore didn't lose a round and showed impressive poise and patience in the fight against a dissapointing Lujan who frankly lacked ambition and looked like he just wanted to survive.

Moore Vs. Lujan round 6-12 Highlights

Survive he did but thats all as Moore got another win under his belt and now he will look ahead to bigger and better challenges.
