Calzaghe stablemate Bradley Pryce 23-6-0(14) going in, retained his Commonwealth Light-Middleweight Title with a wide unaminous decision over Ghana's tough but limited Thomas Awinbono, 6-1-1(3) before this fight, at the Millenium Stadium, Wales on Saturday night. Pryce, a promising amateur has never quite delivered as a pro, although finally appears to be headed somewhere. Pryce, 26, was coming off a career best win over Andrew Facey, and appeared confident.

He started the fight well, showing more style than his opponent, but, if Pryce has a flaw, it's his inability to resist a tear-up. It has cost him many times in the past, but on this night he appeared to keep his cool and use his skills. For most of the fight Pryce simply outboxed Awinbono, altough the Ghanaian did have his moments, few and far between as they were.

However, Awinbono's inexperience showed. Pryce was never really pushed in this fight, and won on all three judges scorecards widely. On one card he didn't even lose a round, instead sharing just one.

After the fight Pryce called out Jamie Moore saying he wanted to capitalise on his good form with a British Title shot. If he gets it, one fears Jamie Moore will be a step to far for trier Pryce.
