March 19th results
The vacant Canadian light middleweight title was disputed between Stephane Desormiers and Ian MacKillop in a 10 rounds battle. Both fighters had lost their last fight against Sebastien Demers prior to this one, Mckillop lost by a brutal 3rd round TKO in the third fight against demers, and Desormiers had lost a 10 rounds UD.

Last night, Ian Mackillop and Desormiers both tried to mutually rip their heads off for 10 consecutive rounds as Ian had predicted before the fight. Mackillop went down 2 time sduring the fight, and was seriously shaken at least 3 times while Desormiers had rubbery legs a couple times too. Suprisingly, two of the judges had a draw (94-94) and one judge gave the decision to Mackillop by one point (95-94).

So basicaly the fight was ruled a draw, and the belt that Sebastien demers had vacated to pursue his career at middleweight is still vacant.

Stephane Desormiers
"A rematch is inevitable in my opinion, im really disappointed of my performance, my punches were slow. I lacked aggressiveness last night. I got the draw by sending Mackillop twice to the mat, otherwise, i was losing..."

Also on that card, Walid Smichet was fighting Matt Obrien for the Canadian interim middleweight title in a 10 rounds battle. This very very exciting fight ended by a KO with only 23 seconds left in the fight!!
Obrien who was winning on the scorecards after 9 rounds was KOd in the 10th.

Walid Smichet
"I gave it all to KO him during the last 2 rounds of the fight, since i knew i was losing the fight on points. Only a few seconds were left when i threw that solid right that sent Obrien on the mat. I was happy to see he couldnt stand up again after that brutal KO since this was the toughest fight of my career."

Matt Obrien
"I was easily winning that fight until i did a stupid mistake and got caught with that wide right hook. Its a REALLY frustrating situation for me..."

Since this fight was to determine the interim Canadian middleweight champion, this means Smichet will be fighting the Canadian middleweight champion Byron Mackie in the next 90 days.

Also on the card,

Canadian Troy Ross won an impressive victory by KO at 2:08 of the 2nd round against John Keaton for the vacant cruiserweight Commonwealth title.

Undefeated Canadian prospect Manolis Plaitis got his 7th win in a one sided 6 rounds UD against Irving Sidanta who only managed to win one round.

Undefeated Canadian prospect Dierry Jean won his 4th pro career fight by 2nd round KO against Mario Alberto Mondragon. This was a 4 rounder.
