TTR RANKED FIGHTERS IN ACTION- August 22 & 23- Rocha, Robinson, Voytsekhovsky, and Malajika Win/Ngubane, Calvo, Shea, and Sigqibo Lose

During the two-day period of Thursday, August 22 and Friday, August 23, eight fighters ranked by TTR as being among the best currently competing in their respective weight classes were in action. Four, Angie Paola Rocha, Desley Robinson, Vasily Voytsekhovsky, and Ricardo Malajika, were victorious while three, Mapule Ngubane, Jacky Calvo, Maureen Shea, and Yanga Sigqibo, were defeated.

- Ms. Robinson weighed in at 158; Ms. Ngubane at 158 1/4.
- "Lady D' dropped Ms. Ngubane in round 3 and went on to win by three 99-90 scores.

- This bout was fought for the vacant WBA Interim World flyweight title. Ms. Rivera's South American super bantamweight title was not on the line.
- Ms. Rivera weighed in at 111; Ms. Calvo at 111 1/2.
- After being headbutted several times, Ms. Calvo, despite not having any swelling by her eye nor having been cut, informed referee Janny Guzman that she had an injured eye. Guzman stopped the bout, leaving it to the judges to decide the outcome.
- The scores were 49-46, 48-47, and 48-47- all for Ms. Rivera.

Perla Lomeli (6-2, 0 KOs)

Maureen 'The Real Million Dollar Baby' Shea (TTR #13; 32-3-1, 13 KOs)
- Ms. Lomeli was a late substitute. Ms. Shea had been scheduled to fight Judit Hachbold (5-20, 1 KO).

NOTE:

In TTR's Women's Professional Boxing Rankings based on results through early August 23, Ms. Rocha retained her #9 spot at 175 while at 160, Ms. Robinson moved up to #3 and Ms. Ngubane dropped to #6.

Ms. Rivera's win over Ms. Calvo and Ms. Shea's loss to Ms. Lomeli will be reflected in TTR's next Women's Professional Boxing Rankings.

TTR's Men's Professional Boxings Rankings based on results through August 23 saw Mr. Voytsekhovsky retain the #12 spot in the light heavyweight rankings and Mr. Malajika move up to #10 and Mr. Sigqibo drop to #20 in the junior bantamweight Top 20.
