Pictured: new WBO World mini-flyweight champion Melvin Jerusalem

Earlier today, in Osaka, Osaka, Japan, six boxers ranked by TTR as being among the best currently campaigning in their respective weight classes were in action. Melvin Jerusalem stopped Masataka Taniguchi, Daniel Valladares and Ginjiro Shigeoka fought to a No-Decision, and Yoshimitsu Kimura and Azael Villar suffered stunning defeats.

Strawweight Bout-
Melvin Jerusalem (TTR #14; 20-2, 12 KOs)
TKO-2 1:04
Masataka Taniguchi (TTR #3, Transnational Boxing Rankings Board #3, The Ring #3; 16-4, 11 KOs)
- Jerusalem, who decked Taniguchi in round 2, took the WBO World mini-flyweight title from defending champion Taniguchi.

Strawweight Bout-
Daniel Valladares (TTR #6, Transnational Boxing Rankings Board #6, The Ring #6; 27-3-1, 1 ND, 15 KOs)
ND-3 2:48
Ginjiro Shigeoka (TTR #8, Transnational Boxing Rankings Board #8, The Ring #8; 8-0, 1 ND, 6 KOs)
- Valladares was left groggy and unable to continue after an accidental clash of heads.
- Initially the result was announced as a technical draw and later listed as a No Contest. However, being that the bout was for an IBF World title and the IBF adheres to the Association Of Boxing Commissions (ABC) Unified Rules of Boxing, it had to go a minimum of four complete rounds before being sent to the judges. Otherwise, it would be, and was, declared a No-Decision under ABC rules.
- Valladares retained the IBF World mini-flyweight title.

Junior Lightweight Bout-
Masanori Rikiishi (13-1, 8 KOs
KO-5 2:52
Yoshimitsu Kimura (TTR #15; 14-3-1, 9 KOs)
- This bout was fought for Kimura's WBO Asia Pacific junior lightweight title. Rikiishi's OPBF super featherweight title was not at stake.

Flyweight Bout-
Ayumu Hanada (9-1-1, 7 KOs)
TKO-7 0:46
Azael Villar (TTR #16 at 108; 19-2-3, 15 KOs)
- Hanada weighed in at 111; Villar at 109 3/4.
