Kenta Nakagawa and Nanako Suzuki Retain Japanese Titles

On Tuesday, August 9, at Tokyo's famed Korakuen Hall, 37-year-old veteran Kenta Nakagawa and 23-year-old prospect Nanako Suzuki successfully retained their Japanese national titles. Both won by unanimous decision.


Junior Bantamweight Bout-
Kenta Nakagawa (22-4-1, 12 KOs)

Hayate Kaji (15-2, 9 KOs)
- Nakagawa was making his first defense of his third reign as the Japanese super flyweight champion.
- He retained the title by the scores of 97-93, 96-94, and 97-93.
- Note: as a result of his victory, Nakagawa entered TTR's junior bantamweight rankings at the #16 spot on August 10.

Female Strawweight Bout-
Nanako Suzuki (7-2, 1 KO)
Unan. Dec. 6
Sarasa Ichimura (4-11-1, 0 KOs)
- The scores were 57-66, 58-55, and 57-56.
- Ms. Suzuki retained the Japanese minimumweight title. It was her first title defense.
