January 7 Review: Nunez, Eranosyan, and Foster Win on ShoBox/Bermudez Sisters Win in Argentina/Hemphill and Hill Win in New Orleans/Knyba Remains Unbeaten

There were a quite a few bouts of interest yesterday. Showtime televised three exciting bouts which were won by Luis Nunez, Otar Eranosyan, and William Foster III; IBF World female junior flyweight champion Evelyn Nazarena Bermudez successfully defended her title in Argentina; Sean Hemphill and Jeremy Hill won in New Orleans; and heavyweight prospect Damian Knyba remained undefeated with a KO win in Poland.

Orlando, Florida, USA-

Showtime televised the Nunez-Arrieta, Castillo-Eranosyan, and De Los Santos-Foster bouts as part of their ShoBox: The New Generation series. The non-televised undercard also featured quite a few interesting matchups.

- Nunez staggered Arrieta in round 10 and his follow-up attack forced referee Frank Gentile to stop the contest.

- This was a non-title bout. Eranosyan's WBA Continental Americas super featherweight title was not on the line.
- Eranosyan weighed in at 135; Castillo at 134 3/4.
- Eranosyan floored Castillo twice in the first round and went on to win by the scores of 79-71, 80-70, and 80-70.
- Steve Farhood scored the bout for Showtime and had Eranosyan winning by a 79-71 score.
- I scored the bout for TTR. Like Steve Farhood, I gave the fourth round to Castillo, gave all the others to Eranosyan, and had Eranosyan winning, 79-71.
