During the five-day period of Tuesday, December 28, 2021 through Saturday, January 1, 2022, five fighters ranked by TTR as being among the best in their respective weight classes were in action. A sixth was scheduled to fight but the result of his bout was still unavailable at the time this article was written. Of those we know fought, four, Kongfah CP Freshmart, Kazuto Ioka, Luis "King Kong" Ortiz, and Frank "The Cuban Flash" Sanchez, were victorious while one, Ryoji Fukunaga, lost (to Ioka).

Ioka was originally slated to face IBF World junior bantamweight champion Jerwin Ancajas (TTR #4, Transnational Boxing Rankings Board #4, The Ring #4; 33-1-2, 22 KOs) in a title unification bout but that bout was canceled due to Japan's COVID-19-related travel restrictions.
- Ioka won by the scores of 115-113, 116-112, and 118-110 and retained the WBO World junior bantamweight title.

- Hammer was a late substitute. Sanchez, who came into this bout off a 10-round, unanimous decision win over previously undefeated Efe Ajagba, was originally scheduled to fight Carlos Negron (25-3, 20 KOs). Negron had to withdraw after testing positive for COVID-19.
- Sanchez scored a questionable knockdown in round 10 and went on to win by three 100-89 scores.
