Wednesday, September 22, 2021-

Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan-

Light Flyweight Bout-
Masamichi Yabuki (The Ring #10, TTR #19; 13-3, 12 KOs)
TKO-10 2:59
Kenshiro Teraji (TTR #1, Transnational Boxing Rankings Board #1, The Ring #1; 18-1, 10 KOs)
- Teraji was defending the WBC World title for the ninth time.
- Yabuki jumped out to an early lead which was reflected by two of the judges' scorecards. After four rounds, the power-punching challenger led 40-36 on two cards with the third card even at 38-38.
- Teraji had his moments during the second half of the fight. After appearing to win rounds seven and eight, he seemed to be the verge of a stoppage win in the ninth round. It wasn't enough. After nine rounds, he trailed on all three cards- 87-87, 88-83, and 86-85- and his challenger still had more to give.
- Yabuki, not displaying the signs of fatigue he did in the previous round, went back on the attack in round 10. He regained controlled and stunned the defending champion near the end of the frame. Yabuki then fired a flurry of shots forcing referee Yuki Kukuchi to stop the bout.
