Coceres Stops Rosalez to Win WBA Fedebol Title
Pictured: Marcelo "El Terrible" Coceres

Last night, at the Microestadio Municipal in Hurlingham, Buenos Aires, Argentina, former WBO World title challenger Marcelo Coceres won the vacant WBA Fedebol super middleweight title by brutally stopping overmatched Nelson Rosalez in the second round. On the undercard, super middleweight Nelson David Campos halted the more experienced Juan Rodolfo Juarez, lightweight prospects Nicolas Ezequiel Herrera and Matias German Garcia fought to a draw, and the bout between bantamweight prospects Leonardo Osvaldo Virzi and Alejandro Farias was declared a No Contest.

Vacant WBA Fedebol Super Middleweight Title-
Marcelo Coceres (Marcelo Esteban Coceres; IBO #49 at 160; 30-2-1, 16 KOs)
TKO-2 1:54
Nelson Rosalez (Nelson Nicolas Rosalez; 5-4, 5 KOs as per BoxRec; record may be incomplete also as per BoxRec)
- Coceres floored Rosalez twice in round 2. Referee Gerardo Poggi humanely stopped the bout without issuing a count immediately after the second knockdown.
- Since losing by KO-11 to then defending WBO World super middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders, Coceres is 2-1. He split a pair of 10-round decisions with Sebastian Horacio Papeschi prior to demolishing Rosalez.

Super Middleweight Bout-
Nestor David Campos (4-2, 4 KOs)
TKO-5
Juan Rodolfo Juarez (19-6, 14 KOs)
- This was former WPC (World Pugilism Commission) Argentine champion Juarez' 3rd consecutive loss. He's 3-6 in his last 9 bouts.

Lightweight Bout-
Nicolas Ezequiel Herrera (7-2-2, 3 KOs)
Maj. Dec. Draw 6
Matias German Garcia (5-1-2, 0 KOs)
- The scores were 58-57 for the 24-year-old Herrera, 57-57, and 57-57.
- This was the second consecutive draw for the 26-year-old Garcia.

Bantamweight Bout-
Leonardo Osvaldo Virzi (1-0, 1 NC, 1 KO)
NC-1
Alejandro Farias (1-0, 1 NC, 0 KOs)
- Virzi staggered Farias early in the round but soon after an accidental clash of heads left Virzi with a large, nasty-looking lump on his forehard. As a result, the bout was wisely stopped and declared a No Contest.
