During the two-day period of Thursday, May 20 and Friday, May 21, three boxers ranked by TTR as among the best currently fighting in their respective divisions were in action. Super middleweight Pavel Silyagin emerged victorious while strawweights Nkosinathi Joyi and Joey Canoy, who fought as a junior flyweight, were defeated.

- Joyi weighed in at 106 and was unable to shed the excess weight. As a result, he forfeited his championship and the vacant title was available to Ndulani, who weighed in at 104 1/2, only.
- Joyi was planning to celebrate his 38th birthday with a victory but Ndulani denied him that pleasure emphatically. He decked Joyi twice in round 2 and dropped him face-first in round 4. Referee Tony Nyangiwe waved it off immediately after Joyi hit the canvas in the fourth round.
