During the two-day period of Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8, four boxers ranked by TTR as being among the best currently fighting in their respective divisions were in action. Two, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Elwin Soto, won and two, Liam Smith and Billy Joe Saunders, lost.

In addition, a bout featuring two fighters not currently ranked by TTR which may impact TTR's rankings took place on the 8th. That bout was won by Souleymane Cissokho.

- Alvarez and Saunders fought before a crowd of 73,126, the largest ever to attend an indoor boxing match.
- Saunders suffered swelling under his right eye after getting hit by a devastating uppercut. By the time Saunders was able to sit down between the eighth and ninth rounds, the swelling prevented him from seeing with his right eye.
- On Sunday, May 9, Saunders' promoter Eddie Hearn tweeted that Saunders had "suffered multiple fractures to orbital area and will undergo surgery this afternoon."

Champion Kieron Conway (WBA #14; 16-2-1, 3 KOs)
- Cissokho won a Bronze Medal at the 2016 Olympics and has wins over Jose de Jesus Macias, "King" Carlos Molina, and Dmitry Mikhaylenko as a pro.
- Conway has a draw with Ted Cheeseman and wins over Craig O'Brien, Navid Mansouri, who he beat for the then vacant Intercontinental title, and Macaulay McGowan.
- Conway hurt and dropped Cissokho with uppercuts in round 9.
- Cissokho recovered and stunned Conway with an overhand right in round 10.
- The scores were 97-92 for Conway and 96-93 and 95-94 for Cissokho.
