During the two-day period of Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6, Hector Garcia (Hector Garcia Dolores), Eliot Chavez, and Cristian Bielma won regional titles by inflicting losses on previously undefeated prospects. Garcia, not to be confused with WBA #3 ranked featherweight contender Hector Luis Garcia, knocked out Jaret Gonzalez to win the WBA Fedecaribe featherweight title, Chavez scored a brutal TKO over Rodolfo Bustamante to win the NABF super featherweight title, and Cristian Bielma unanimously outpointed Osvaldo Maldonado to win the NABF lightweight championship.

- Garcia came into the bout off a decision win over former three-time world title challenger David Carmona. (Note: That bout, Garcia's actual 7th victory, is listed as a No Contest by BoxRec.)
- The 19-year-old Gonzalez was taking a sizeable step up by fighting Garcia.

- Despite owning knockout wins over Mauricio Lara and Jose Antonio Sampedro, Chavez was the underdog versus the NABF #7 ranked Bustamante.
- Behind on points, Chavez hurt a tiring Bustamante with a senses-numbing right. He then floored Bustamante with another hard right resulting in the referee halting the bout without issuing a count.
- Bustamante was taken from the ring on a stretcher.
