During the three-day period of Thursday, January 14 through Saturday, January 16, TTR #9 ranked bantamweight contender Takuma Inoue and welterweight Ryota Toyoshima dethroned reigning OPBF champions, Lucas Brian Ariel Bastida retained the South American middleweight title, Carlos Daniel Cordoba made a successful defense of the FAB Argentine super lightweight title, super welterweight Carlos Ocampo blew out veteran Abraham Juarez in 79 seconds, and prospects Katsuki Mori, Ryutaro Nakagaki, Milan Prat, and Dylan Price remained unbeaten.

In addition, regionally ranked Chikato Sumida was held to an upset draw by veteran journeyman Ken Achiwa, super lightweight Shinard Bunch knocked out Dieumerci Nzau, welterweight Jorge "Chino" Garcia outpointed Jose "Berna" Lozano, Rafael Guzman stopped welterweight Francisco Javier Hernandez, Grigor Saruhanian drew with Boban Ilioski, and John Chuwa returned with a points win over 2-fight novice Juma Hassan Amani.

- Kurihara had won 12 of his last 13 bouts coming into his defense against Inoue.
- An accidental clash of heads, which resulted in Kurihara being badly cut, brought the bout to an end.
- The bout was scored up to the point of the stoppage.
- Inoue had outboxed Kurihara throughout the contest and won by the scores of 89-82, 89-82, and 90-81.
