Vicelles, Araneta, Apolinar, and Bacaro Win As Boxing Returns to the Philippines

After a seven-month absence, professional boxing has returned to the Philippines. Earlier today, a four-bout promotion, headlined by world ranked light flyweight Mark Vicelles taking on Junuel Lacar, took place at the IPI Compound in Mandaue City, Cebu. The card also featured world-ranked light flyweight Christian Araneta facing Richard Rosales and highly regarded prospects Peter Apolinar and Carlo Bacaro going up against former world title challenger Jetro Pabustan and journeyman Jeffrey Stella respectively.

The results of the card, the first in the Philippines since March 9, were as follows:

Light Flyweight Bout-
Mark Vicelles (Transnational Boxing Rankings Board #9, WBC #10, TTR #12, WBO #13; 12-0-1, 6 KOs)

Junuel Lacar (8-6-3, 6 KOs)
- Vicelles floored Lacar in rounds 2, 3, and 4.

Flyweight Bout-
Christian Araneta (IBF #9, WBC #23- both at 108; 18-1, 14 KOs)
Unan. Dec. 10
Richard Rosales (14-13-2, 8 KOs)
- Araneta weighed in at 110 1/2; Rosales at 110.
- Araneta dropped Rosales in round 5 and round 6 and went on to win by the scores of 99-89, 100-88, and 99-89.

Featherweight Bout-
Peter Apolinar (12-1, 8 KOs)
Unan. Dec. 10
Jetro Pabustan (30-8-6, 9 KOs)
- The scores were 96-94, 98-92, and 98-92.

Super Lightweight Bout-
Carlo Bacaro (6-0, 5 KOs)
