During the 5-day period of Tuesday, July 21 through Saturday, July 25, three TTR ranked fighters were in action and all three, Oscar Valdez, Vergil Ortiz, Jr., annd Joe Joyce, emerged victorious. In addition, during the 6-day period of July 21 through July 26, four bouts featuring fighters not currently ranked by TTR which may impact TTR's rankings took place. The winners of those bouts were Isaac Dogboe, Kenta Nakagawa, Kenichi Horikawa, and Masamichi Yabuki.

- Nakagawa-Matsuo, held at Korakuen Hall, was the main event on Tokyo's second professional boxing card since boxing resumed in Japan on July 12.
- Matsuo came into the bout ranked by the JBC as the #1 contender for Nakagawa's title.
- Nakagawa won by the scores of 88-84, 88-84, and 88-85 thus making the first successful defense of his second reign as the Japanese super flyweight champion. He is now 3-1 in Japanese title bouts.
