Nakagawa Retains Japanese Super Flyweight Title

Yesterday at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japanese super flyweight champion Kenta Nakagawa won a 9-round, unanimous technical decision over top contender Yuto Matsuo.

In the supporting bouts, debuting lightweight Rentaro Kimura stopped Yuya Azuma and female light flyweight Nanako Suzuki unanimously outpointed Aoi Watanabe.

- Nakagawa-Matsuo was the main event on Tokyo's second professional boxing card since boxing resumed in Japan on July 12.
- Matsuo came into the bout ranked by the JBC as the #1 contender for Nakagawa's title.
- Nakagawa won by the scores of 88-84, 88-84, and 88-85 thus making the first successful defense of his second reign as the Japanese super flyweight champion. He is now 3-1 in Japanese title bouts.
