- Taduran weighed in at 104 1/2; Valladares at 103 3/4.
- Valladares was cut badly by an accidental clash of heads in round one. As the exciting fight went on, the cut worsened. At the end of the fourth round, the ringside physician advised the referee to stop the bout because of the cut.
- The scores were 39-37 for Valladares, 38-38, and 38-38.
