JERMALL CHARLO HOSTS OPEN WORKOUT FOR ADAMS BOUT

HOUSTON- Undefeated WBC interim World Middleweight champion Jermall Charlo held an open media workout in his hometown as he prepares for his upcoming defense against contender Brandon Adams of Los Angeles, California.

Charlo (28-0, 21 KOs) appeared to be as sharp as ever during his workout session without renown trainer Ronnie Shields. After coming off a hard-fought decision win against Matvey Korobov in this past December, Charlo is aiming to put on a spectacular performance in front of his hometown fans against Adams (21-2, 13 KOs).

This will be Jermall Charlo's first fight in Houston since March of 2012 when he stopped Sean Rawley Wilson in 5 rounds.

I caught up with Jermall after his workout to ask him about next week's big event in Houston.

EW- "Jermall, how does it feel to finally bring a big fight back to your hometown?"
JC- "To please my hometown crowd has been amazing. I know I get a lot of feedback. I keep getting asked when I'm going to fight in Houston. Well, here you have it."

EW- "Are you feeling any pressure to get an early knockout since you didn't against Korobov?"
JC- "I really just want to fight to the best of my abilities and make adjustments if I have to. If he makes the wrong move, I'll knock him out. This is the sport of boxing and one shot can end anybody's career, so I don't predict a knockout, but I've trained hard for one. There's no pressure on me to knock him out, but if I get the knockout then it just...happens."

EW- "I know you don't want to look past Adams but the Middleweight division is stacked. Will you guys finally be able to sort out the confusion and unify? Are the networks in the way?"
JC- "I'm not hiding behind a network. I'm not hiding behind a manager or promoter. I promote my own self and take my own phone calls. I'm waiting on one of those guys to give me a call. But until then I'll be in the city of Houston putting on for my city. The Middleweight division is stacked, but it's nothing that brings pressure against me. I'm the Middleweight champion of the world and I like the way that sounds."

Charlo vs. Adams will take place on Saturday June 29th at NRG Arena in Houston, Texas and will be televised live on Showtime.
