- Guevara was a late substitute. Ruiz was originally scheduled to fight Jhack Tepora (WBA #1; 22-0, 17 KOs) for Tepora's WBA Interim World featherweight title. That bout was scratched when Tepora weighed in at 131 1/2 and was, as a result, stripped of the interim title.
- Ruiz outpointed Guevara by the scores of 99-90, 100-89, and 99-90.
