Teshigawara and Mbilli Capture Steppingstone Titles

On Thursday, October 11, two "steppingstone" title bouts featuring fighters not currently ranked by TTR which may propel the winners into TTR's rankings took place- one in Tokyo; one in Orleans, France. The winners of those bouts were Hiroaki Teshigawara and Christian Mbilli.

Tokyo, Japan-

Vacant OPBF Super Bantamweight Title-
Hiroaki Teshigawara (WBO #3, WBC #19- both at 118; 18-2-2, 11 KOs)

Glenn Suminguit (21-4, 11 KOs)
- Teshigawara's WBO Asia-Pacific bantamweight title was not on the line.
- Teshigawara and Suminguit came into the bout ranked by the OPBF as #5 and #9 at 122 respectively.

Christian Mbilli (WBC #20; 12-0, 12 KOs/15-0, 14 KOs including WSB bouts)

- Mbilli, who represented France at the 2016 Summer Olympics, also has wins over current Republic of Poland champion Robert Swierzbinski, veteran Jesus Gurrola, and previously undefeated Ramon Aguinaga.

Both cards featured other bouts of interest. The Tokyo promotion saw Rikki Naito make his second defense of the OPBF super lightweight title, Tetsu Araki win the newly created Japanese Youth bantamweight title, and lightweight Ryosuke Takami pound out an eight-round, unanimous decision over Russia's He Su Khan.

In Orleans, Diego Natchoo stopped former World Boxing Federation champion Michel Mothmora to win the vacant French middlewight title, French light heavyweight champion Mathieu Bauderlique added the vacant WBC Francophone diadem to his collection, IBF World female junior lightweight champion Maiva Hamadouche KOed Gabriella Mezei in the first round of a non-title match, and Ainara Mota won the vacant French female featherweight title.
