Who Wins Canelo vs Golovkin III?

Khan/Limond result

In an exciting fight Britains shooting star Amir Khan annexed his first major title as he took the commonwealth 135 crown from tough and talented Scot Willie Limond....but only after surviving a major scare as he was dropped heavily in the 6th round!

Upto that point Khan had controlled the fight with his speed and natural gifts but Limond was always dangerous and looked composed as he waited patiently for his chance.

But in the 6th all the best laid plans for Khan were nearly blown out of the water as Limond landed a heavy right hand and then a series of followup punches sent Khan crashing to the canvas. Upto quickly Khans legs looked unsteady as he took the 8 count. Limond launched an all out assault in a bid to end things and Khan came under heavy pressure though by the bell he looked to have recovered his composure.

And indeed in the 7th Khan blazed back and finally uncorked a long right hand to leave Limond on unsteady legs, a followup attack by Khan had Limond on the floor and Limond was on the end of a beating for the rest of the round as the speedy Olympic silver medallist looked to finish the show in style.

Limond survived and saw the round out but he looked a mess as he sat on his stool and his corner informed the referee that their man would not be coming out for the 8th citing a broken jaw as reason for the retirement.

Khan moves on but this was far closer that it should have been and the warning signs on display in this fight have to be heeded if he is to achieve what many people think he is capable of. He is a supremely gifted fighter but it was alarming to see him badly hurt by a relatively light puncher in Limond and his defensive lapses need addressing with haste.
