Duddy Wins Homecoming
Duddy Wins Homecoming

At the National Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, "Irish" John Duddy made his long anticipated hometown debut much to the delight of the screaming and chanting crowd. Duddy (20-0, 15 KOs) dominated Italy`s Alessio Furlan (19-9, 5 KOs) from the first round, dropping Furlan with chopping left hands. Furlan would weather the initial onslaught, and continue fighting hard, landing punches on the not-so defensive minded Duddy. Duddy behind steady workmanlike precision won every round and finally dropped the hardnosed Furlan twice in the last stanza. The referee stopped the fight after the second knockdown, awarding Duddy the knockout victory at 2:36 of the 10th round.

In the first fight of the PPV, undefeated welterweight Paul McClosky (11-0, 5 KOs) walked through Ivan Bustos (22-12-3, 8 KOs) winning rounds one through three with relative ease. In the fourth round McClosky landed a picture perfect right hand to the midsection of Bustos, immediately dropping him to the canvas. Bustos remained on the canvas as the referee`s count reached 10, rewarding the 4th round KO to McClosky.
