"I would`ve rather been knocked out than to have this fight stolen from me the way it was" said an angry Miguel Huerta after having lost a split decision to "Kid Diamond" on Versus fight night. "I probably would`ve had to kill him to win. The disappointment is overwhelming." Although Huerta hurt Diamond on several occasions and dropped him in the eleventh round, the fight was unpopularly scored for Diamond by judges Don Ackerman and Frank Adams with scores of 114-113. The third judge, Ruben Garcia gave a more realistic score of 116-111 for Huerta.

"The incompetence of judges Ackerman and Adams is astounding. They robbed a hard working kid of an NABF title and a possible world title shot in what was a clear theft to everyone at home and in the audience," said manager Frank Espinoza. Espinoza is referring to the outraged audience who loudly voiced their displeasure at the decision during the post fight interviews. "Ackerman and Adams should be looked at closely before they`re assigned to another fight. You can expect a formal protest from team Espinoza forthcoming" ended Espinoza. Both boxing analysts for the Versus television network, Nick Charles and Wally Matthews called the decision one of the most horrible decisions they`ve ever witnessed. Diamond claimed he was given Huerta as an opponent on three days notice as an excuse for his less than stellar performance. In fact, the fight was announced more than a month ago.
