Shame to see Khabib retire but perfectly understandable. He’s definitely one of the GOAT’s.

Think about this with his last 3 fights. He won all 3 by submission, but won 1 round sooner than the previous fight and this is against the best.

Conor submission in round 4
Poirier submission in round 3
Gaethje submission in round 2

We never even got to see Khabib's peak. He's only 31 and getting better every fight.

I personally think that there should be an 8 man tournament to crown the next champ.

8 man tournament-

Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier
Tony Ferguson vs Charles Oliveira

Justin Gaethje vs Dan Hooker
Michael Chandler vs Islam Makhachev

Round 1 in January/Febuary.
Final 4 in June/July.
Final 2 in December.

Michael Chandler vs Islam Makhachev

Round 1 in January/Febuary.
Final 4 in June/July.
Final 2 in December.
My brother was saying they should do a tournament.
I think it would be the fairest way. Conor doesn't deserve a title match straight up vs Poirier.

8 man tournament-

Tony Ferguson vs Charles Oliveira

Justin Gaethje vs Dan Hooker
Michael Chandler vs Islam Makhachev

I'm not against a tournament, but when Conor vs. Poirier 2 was clearly being talked about as the number one contender match, the easiest thing is to make it for the title.

Not when Conor wants the fight at 170. Things may change with him now because of the retirement but he wanted the fight at 170 and not 155. For me a fight at 170 doesn't mean shit for the 155 division or title shot.
The fighters he's beaten aren't even household names in their own household.

Dana came out saying the fight had to be at 155 before Khabib retired. So things were pointing to this fight being at 155. Though it's funny Dana says that, but had no issue with giving Conor a shot at the 155 pound title after beating Cowboy at 170. Lol

I like it, only one change for me fighter wise. I don't think Makhachev deserves it over Diego Ferreira. I know Ferreira has a scheduled fight on November 7th and if he wins he should get the spot. If he loses then I'd give it to Makhachev or Dariush.

Since they agreed to the fight I'd leave the Mcgregor vs Poirier matchup.

I'd go with:

Side A
McGregor vs Poirier
Ferguson vs Hooker

Side B
Gaethje vs Ferreira
Chandler vs Oliveira

Have Tony vs. Hooker as the co-main event to Conor vs. Poirier?

You can have them together on the same show. You can have them on different shows, but they need to fight close together like within a week or 2. Each side of the bracket needs to fight close to one another to keep it fair rest wise.

You can do McGregor vs Poirier and Chandler vs Oliveira on the ppv card, good way for the UFC fans to see Chandler if they don't know who he is. Then have Gaethje vs Ferreira and Ferguson vs Hooker on the card before or after.

Just from the dates listed so far, have Conor vs Poirier and Chandler vs Oliveira on January 23rd and the other fights on one of the cards on either January 16 or 30.
The fighters he's beaten aren't even household names in their own household.

If they go the tournament route, or if they do Conor vs. Poirier for the title and they have a number one contender match, it makes total sense to have that as the co-main event..

Think about this with his last 3 fights. He won all 3 by submission, but won 1 round sooner than the previous fight and this is against the best.

Conor submission in round 4
Poirier submission in round 3
Gaethje submission in round 2
He won this last one with his worst camp. Out for a couple of weeks with the mumps and a broken foot a couple weeks before the fight. He posted the xray today.

It's awesome he had his most impressive performance on a broken foot.

The fight was scheduled for 170 and if Khabib had not retired he wouldn't have fought the winner next.

No it isn't. Dana came out and said how the fight makes no sense to be done at 170 and it needing to be at 155.
