Re: Dana wanting to put fights on a private island...
The two clips of the interview I saw he basically said they have a location in the US to do fights over the next 2 months.
He's also secured a private island with an airstrip so that the fighters that live outside the US can fly in on private planes and fight without having to try and get into the US.
So, fights involving non-US fighters would take place on the island, and all-American match ups would take place in the undisclosed (as of yet) US location, most likely it's a native reserve.
He said they've got a crew working on the island right now setting it up so they could stage fights there.

The Association Of Ringside Physicians seem to be totally against going ahead with any combat sports right now. I'm sure the UFC can find doctors willing to take the money to show up though:
ARP Statement on COVID-19
A LETTER FROM THE BOARD
The ARP recommends the indefinite suspension of all combat sports events.
The Association of Ringside Physicians has been actively following the recommendations of the CDC as well as other professional medical societies concerned with the spread of COVID-19, or novel coronavirus.
Sporting events across the world have been cancelled in response to the increased risk of infection and transmission by participants, fans, officials, and support staff.
It is our recommendation that all combat sporting events be postponed until further notice. This includes any and all events, regardless of the number of people involved. Any combat sport taking place during this global pandemic places the athletes, officials, and anyone else involved in the event under unnecessary risk of infection and transmission of Covid-19. In addition, combat sports athletes often require medical attention after a bout, and we do not wish to see any additional strain on an already overwhelmed medical system.
We continue to monitor this ever-evolving situation, and our thoughts continue to be with those who have been and will be affected by this disease.
Our organization remains steadfast in our mission: to serve, protect, and educate all involved in combative sports.

The creativity here is good and I hope there is some way something like this could be pulled off. Outside of Covid, the main concern is if a fighter has a life-threatening injury on an island, is there a trauma center nearby that can take the fighter in. There are many countries where top flight doctors are around and not an outbreak of Covid. China has things under control, so does South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore etc. Getting a few medical crews could be done. it may still not happen due to many factors, but thinking creatively is a step in the right direction

China and South Korea got things under control through extensive testing and social distancing.
Patience is the key.
I live in a county where there have been 18548 confirmed cases including 1938 new cases in the 24 hour period ending yesterday at 5 PM.
White is playing with fire and I hope his fighters and officials don't get burnt.

It’s not happening.
UFC 249 will not proceed on April 18, despite Dana White's efforts to move forward with the pay-per-view event, the UFC president told ESPN's Brett Okamoto on Thursday.
White also said all other UFC events have been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"Today, we got a call from the highest level you can go at Disney, and the highest level at ESPN ... and the powers that be there asked me to stand down and not do this event on Saturday," White said.

The fighters he's beaten aren't even household names in their own household.
"Never shall innocent blood be shed. Yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river. The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of god."

Not surprised. Look how long it took just to find a new place to hold the events. Then the fact it took them so long to get Ferguson and Gaethje signedPrimetyme199 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 5:47 pm It’s not happening.
