It's going to be a pretty good fight. Hopefully if he wins he fights Inoue or Gallito after, but I really like this fight for him.

How can you not be a fan of or say wow to Chocolatito? Talk about a champ moving up and challenging himself again and again! Carlos Caudras has real power at super flyweight and will come to take out the smaller Roman Gonzalez... This could be a FOTY contender and must see TV for fight fans.....

WAR CHOCOLATITO!!!!!!

With a name like Chocolatito you'd expect a smooth tactician.

He's more like a chocolate laxative... Cuz he runs right through you.

Can't wait for this fight.

Someone already asked me to break it down through PMs so here it is:

It's a very good matchup. Cuadras won't get any better and he can bring a similar challenge to what Estrada gave Roman.

But if we look at their styles a little closer, i think Roman is a very safe pick. I have been one of Cuadras biggest fans. Been following his career since it started thanks to the Cadana Tres Mx Boxing Serie.

Cuadras always have overpowered his opponent earlier in his career. He was a combo stalker grinder, leaving very little time windows for his opponents to retaliate. His offensive aggressivity has been his defense...

One thing emerged from his style and performances, he is a relentless body puncher. He can grind the body in hook combos... he can liver hunt with big hooks from the boundary of the pocket, in the middle of a trading sequence... he can also target it from distance with straights.

His biggest weaknesses... He doesn't use his jab enough... it's a decent jab and it could help his lack of reach in many matchups vs lengthier opponents.

Another pretty big weakness that many very effective stalker have is they get overconfident and didn't have to work on D much. That has for effect to make them VERY timeable. ANd another weakness they develop is their hands get low while they stalk. It's the case for Cuadras who drops his right and is ALL open for Roman's DEADLY perfect natural left hook.

When we watch how both fighters/style will collide. The first thing that will be apparent is how much more compact Roman is. Both like to work with hooks... Roman's hook is PERFECT...in all it's aspects. Cuadras' hook are often wide... often when they are thrown in grinding combos. Cuadras often even clubs hooks.

In the end Roman is much more compact and will have lots of flaws to exploit on a very aggressive fighter in Cuadras. Roman shouldn't have to look for him. Cuadras can overcommit on grinding hook combos and Roman will have all kind of opportunities to counter with pop.

If Roman fights Cuadras' fight on the inside, could end up being a foty contender like vs Estrada.

Great breakdown Astor, and I agree it could be a FOTY candidate.... Both guys always come into a fight in great shape, go to the body hard and power punch in combination.... Roman deserves props for stepping up against a bigger guy that's an established undefeated champ.....

Gonzalez is going for a world title in a FOURTH different weight class. He's reigned at 105 (WBA World minimumweight title) and 108 (WBA World light flyweight title; WBA World light flyweight Super championship) and currently reigns at 112 (lineal, WBC, and Ring Magazine World flyweight titles).

Thanks for the breakdown, Astor.

Looking forward to seeing Roman and GGG this weekend--we could use it all things considered. Should give Rasta a 10 count on the Chat on Sat. night.

I dont know anybody that can keep up with Roman.

Cuadras is going to go to war with him, but I like Chocolatito to outlast him and pour it on in his usual fashion

You'd be able to count me as among the shocked if Roman runs thru Carlos Cuardas as easily as some here think.....

After watching Cuadras on film and in preparation and hearing him talk, he's a little bit clownish. I hate to say that, but, he's kind of goofy and I don't see how he wins this fight.
