Harper-Habazin and BoxRec

Post by KSTAT124 »

Terri Harper was originally scheduled to fight Cecilia Braekhus May 20 on the Cameron-Taylor card but Braekhus withdrew due to flu-like symptoms. She's now slated to fight Ivana Habazin on May 27.

Michael Rothstein, in the linked article, writes that "Habazin last fought in October against Diana Prazak and before that had a more than two-year layoff after losing a challenge for the WBC and WBO junior middleweight belts to Claressa Shields." That's not true! If you just check BoxRec, you'd think it was true but you'd be mistaken.

BoxRec has not entered the result of Ms. Habazin's April 10, 2021 bout (a TKO-2 win over Nana Chakhvashvili) as well as Layla McCarter's TKO-5 over Elene Sikmashvili which occurred on the same card apparently because those bouts were fought under the supervision of the United Arab Emirate Boxing Federation not BoxRec's "preferred" Dubai Boxing Commission. It should be noted that the Habazin-Chakvashvili fight was sanctioned by the WBC as its inaugural Middle East title bout and Amir Khan presented Ms. Habazin, a former IBF World welterweight champion, with her belt after the match.
