R.I.P.
Coetzee's ridiculous loss to Renaldo Snipes in 1981 finally convinced the New York State Athletic Commission to do away with the "rounds with a supplemental points system" the NYSAC had stubbornly stuck with up to that point.
Coetzee was a good man who, despite death threats, openly opposed apartheid and, once in was in a position to do so, demanded the crowds at his fights be integrated.
