January Sumo Tournament
The January tournament has started and it’s strange. No Yokozuna and only 1 Ozeki.
Should be interesting to see if some standards are loosened to get another Ozeki as soon as they can.
Leaders after Day 3
3-0
Hoshoryu (Sekiwake)
Tamawashi (Maegashira #2)
Abi (Maegashira #3)
Onosho (Maegashira #8)
Aoiyama (Maegashira #10)
Kotoshoho (Maegashira #13)
Takarafuni (Maegashira #16)

Re: January Sumo Tournament
It's weird the way Takakeisho keeps getting heavy nose bleeds during almost every match.
But he is the sole leader now. If he wins this Tournament he'd be getting very near Yokozuna consideration I believe. Especially with a Strong winning record or Tournament win in March.
But obviously we still got 6 days to go here, and it's still anyone's Yusho to take right now.

It’s weird, I was reading an article that they may relax some of the promotion rules because they don’t have enough at the required ranks.gilgamesh wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 11:49 pm It's weird the way Takakeisho keeps getting heavy nose bleeds during almost every match.

Re: January Sumo Tournament
Good Tournament. Was kind anybody's game right up until the end there.
Takakeisho suffered several nose bleeds this tournament. Not sure if he broke his nose, and it just kept bleeding as the days went on or if something else was causing it.
Hopefully it's nothing serious as he's teetering right on the verge of achieving Yokozuna status if he can keep up his recent form.

Ya, I think he may have bled every match! I guess it comes with his style.

Just kept getting hit here so it wouldn’t heal enough over night, but the rest between basho’s might do it. If not he’ll need to get it cauterized.
