Floyd Patterson Once Helped Save the Life of a 3-year-old

Post by KSTAT124 »

Did you know that 1952 Olympic Gold Medalist and two-time World heavyweight champion Floyd Patterson once helped save the life of a 3-year-old boy?

Patterson was driving near Newburgh, New York with his adopted son, Tracy, who would also become a two-time world champion, when he saw a car overturned in a water-filled ditch. He pulled off the road, ran to the car, and with the aid of two other drivers who stopped to help, was able to reach into the car and hold the boy above the water until paramedics and the Jaws of Life arrived.

That was in 1986. Fast forward to 2022 and Colin De Vries, the boy Patterson and the others saved, recounted what happened at a Jersey City Council meeting dealing with Councilwoman Amy DeGise's refusal to resign after being involved in a hit-and-run accident.

Refusing to resign, should be a ethics code that can be implemented
