Re: Hrgovic vs Zhang on Usyk-Joshua undercard.....
Wasn't Zhang sposed to be the next best thang a while back? He was highly touted before the plandemic hit ya?

Re: Hrgovic vs Zhang on Usyk-Joshua undercard.....
I assume Hrgovic is a big favorite but a big part of his defense is using his height to lean away from trouble. Zhang is nearly the same height and he’s got a really nice straight left from that southpaw stance. I think he could surprise.

Good. It was the obvious thing to do. If Fury is playing games that's on him.

I think Fury is just trying to keep his name in the headlines with this move…media whore

My problem with Fury's claim to lineal is that he has done this before. For me, you claim retirement and don't have a legit fight within two years, you vacate lineal status.
The time he wasted with his antics at the tail end of Wlad's career still rubs me the wrong way.

Re: Usyk vs Joshua will have RING title at stake
This retirement is official and ends his lineal reign even if he's still playing games. If he decides to come back and fight the winner of Usyk-Joshua II, he'll be doing so as the challenger.
TTR's next rankings will list the heavyweight title as vacant and the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board will be listing the heavyweight throne as Open possibly as soon as Monday night but definitely before August 20. Like The Ring, TTR and the TBRB will also be recognizing the winner of Usyk-Joshua as the new champ.
Based on his most recent and, apparently meaningful, retirement announcement, BoxRec has removed Fury from their rankings.

Re: Usyk vs Joshua will have RING title at stake
The HW division is really spoiling these guys to the point where they dont need to fight, because these top guys are damn well paid. Fury knows he good enough to even return and possibly beating the next guy with the lineal title. He's still holding the WBC belt and the Ring was quick to dump him.
It's hard to argue that AJ-Usyk doesnt deserve the lineal title, especially with Fury not wanting to face the winner, behavior that I consider harmful to the sport.

Re: Usyk vs Joshua will have RING title at stake
Fury verbally notified The Ring, the WBC, and BoxRec that he retired and was vacating his titles. As a result, The Ring took him at his word and vacated their heavyweight title, BoxRec removed Fury from their rankings, and the WBC has given him until August 26 to officially notify them in writing that he has retired.Based wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 9:41 am The HW division is really spoiling these guys to the point where they dont need to fight, because these top guys are damn well paid. Tonight, the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board also officially recognized Fury's retirement and now list the heavyweight title as "OPEN".
