LUIS ORTIZ vs ANDY RUIZ

Post by Cagiva9 »

That was announced I thought but it’s not on Boxrec and there are no tickets being sold. Was the announcement premature or did it fall apart or did I dream the whole thing up? :?

What a worthless fight. Ortiz is 50 years old. Al Haymon is trying to keep Ruiz relevant until he gets another title fight. This guy should have fought Chisora or Whyte by now. He was almost upset by Arreola last year. Ruiz don't take this boxing shit seriously. That was a complaint he got working with the Canelo team.

Almost upset?! The only round Arreola won was the one that Ruiz sat down in. At 43, Ortiz is no Spring chicken but he did just stop Martin in 6 earlier this year, so he apparently has some life left in him. Anyway, it's a good fight that I would expect Ruiz to win and I'd like to see.

It was almost an upset. When Arreola got tired, thats when Ruiz took over. He looked very vulnerable in that fight, and was overall a poor performance.

Like I said, Ruiz should have fought Whyte and Chisora. I will not be surprised if Ortiz stops Ruiz.

I guess I don't understand the definition of the word "almost” then. The fight was not close.

Saying he should have fought fighter A or fighter B assumes either or both are willing. Chisora was fighting Parker and Whyte had Povetkin problems, he wasn't fighting anybody else till he could get his shot at Fury.

They offered Ruiz a fight, Ruiz camp didnt respond. Ruiz is on that Al Haymon witness protection program. Ruiz is waiting to cash out on another AJ fight or Wilder fight. He should be having more meaningful fights. Since losing the rematch to AJ, he has only fought once.

And he almost did lose to Arreola because he was almost stopped by Arreola. Just an embarrassing performance.

Almost stopped? That’s an embarrassingly ridiculous thing to say.

So far as offers of fights or rumors of offers of fights, I don’t know. I don’t know if there were offers or what those offers were if there actually were any.

Okay, I’ll just pretend I didn’t see the fight and that Dillian Whyte’s words are usually something akin to gospel.

Deny all you want. Ruiz has been avoiding meaningful fights because Haymon is moving him like Charlo so he can cash out on a retirement fight. After that Arreola fight, he doesnt have much life left as a relevant fighter at HW. If Ortiz has anything left in the Tank, he could win. 5 years a go, he would have beat Ruiz.

Hard to believe either of these 2 are in a fight I find interesting that’s not a title fight…..not often have these 2 tried to challenge themselves lately

Its an intriguing fight IMO... Hard to tell what happens. IMO Ruiz wins by Decision but let's see what Ortiz can bring at this age. Ruiz can be hurt. Ruiz also the best liver puncher at Heavy so never know if Ortiz got old.

This being PPV though is insane... 80$ plus taxes...

I think Andy stops Ortiz inside of 6. Luis has got no legs.

With the weight loss does Ruiz maintain any resistance to punches.
Ortiz might be old but he holds up pretty well.
I might change my pick here to Ortiz in the challenge

He hasn’t lost weight. He’s 268, same weight as the first Joshua fight, 12 pounds over what he was against Arreola.
