Radzhab Butaev & Jaron Ennis won by stoppage

The James-Butaev winner will receive a crack at the “super” title currently held by Yordenis Ugas

Mike Coppinger, confirming an earlier report from Jake Donovan, brings word of a quality PBC on Showtime welterweight doubleheader on October 30th. The main event sees Jamal James face Radzhab Butaev for a crack at the WBA “super” title, while Jaron Ennis meets Thomas Dulorme in a rescheduled co-feature.

Current “world” titlist James (27-1, 12 KO) vs. top contender Butaev (13-0, 10 KO) will serve as half of a recently revealed mini-tournament; whoever wins is next in line for the winner of Yordenis Ugas’ mandatory defense against Eimantas Stanionis. James has won seven straight since falling to Ugas in 2016, most recently scoring a solid victory over Dulorme (25-5-1, 16 KO) in August of last year.

Butaev unsuccessfully challenged Alexander Besputin for that belt in 2019, a decision later overturned due to Besputin failing a drug test, and stayed busy last December with a knockout of Terry Chatwood.

Ennis (27-0, 25 KO) and Dulorme were supposed to meet on a Showtime card last December, but the Puerto Rican veteran tested positive for COVID and left Ennis to fight Chris Van Heerden to an anticlimactic no contest. They went on to share a card this past April; Ennis ran over Sergey Lipinets in the main event, while Dulorme started strong against Stanionis before fading down the stretch.

Not a bad night of fights at all.
The fighters he's beaten aren't even household names in their own household.

"Never shall innocent blood be shed. Yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river. The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of god."

Looking forward to the Ennis fight. I think he and Ortiz are the future of the division. I sincerely hope they don't manage to avoid each other indefinitely like the previous future of the division, Crawford and Spence.

Boots continues to be a monster. I wanted a tougher opponent than Dulorme, but still, KO 1 is as dominant as it gets and no one else has finished TD that fast.

Get this guy Danny Garcia or Ugas now. Don't make him wait around longer to show his talent vs a top level guy. At absolute worst, Jamal James next for the regular WBA, then Ugas for the full.

Good stoppage... James was about to enter the unhealthy territory imo. The swelling behind his head was badd. No mention of it from the commentators.

James took a beating, although I didn't expect the ref to jump in at that time. I think the body shots were bothering him the most. He seemed winded from the 4th on.
