CANELO stopped PLANT
CANELO stopped PLANT
At least these are the latest reports
Jermall Charlo has also called out Plant and says he'll beat him and then fight Canelo. Maybe Canelo-Plant not happening encourages Mall to move up, as then his own fight with Plant opens up, and if Charlo does want Canelo he'll need to move up anyway if Canelo sticks to his word about not returning to 160.

Re: Canelo-Plant falling apart; Canelo-Bivol being eyed
Charlo leapfrogging Benavidez after calling dude out and then backtracking when David called his bluff, saying he's a 160 lb fighter and not even considering the feud between Benavidez and Plant, is pretty fucked. Missing out on a Canelo payday for Plant is also pretty fucked.
I get the angle, keep the IBF strap in house for another fight or two while propping up the status of the winner to leverage Canelo into a better split and the 3 fight contract they've been trying to lock him into, but Canelo has proven he's not going to be leaned on at this stage of his career. Shit's corny. Boxing is worse than it's ever been due to this type shit.

I figured there was a high likelihood that Haymon and Plant would get cute in negotiations.
Re: Canelo-Plant falling apart; Canelo-Bivol being eyed
Bivol would probably put up a better fight

I know this article i read was from Plants POV but sounds like they gave Canelo everything he wanted. So how can you put all the blame on Haymon and Plant. Just wondering
Re: Canelo-Plant falling apart; Canelo-Bivol being eyed
The boring counter puncher Caleb Plant would get KTFO vs. Canello so, I'm glad to hear about the possibility of Bivol getting a shot at Canelo. Bivol who is a young talented boxer with power in both hands and I think he would give Canelo a better fight...

On paper Bivol gives Canelo a better fight. But if he has to cut down to 168, how effective will he truly be?The boring counter puncher Caleb Plant would get KTFO vs. Canello so, I'm glad to hear about the possibility of Bivol getting a shot at Canelo. But honestly for me...I just wanted to see Canelo blast the highly overrated Plant into oblivion.
Re: Canelo-Plant falling apart; Canelo-Bivol being eyed
Do people rate Plant that highly?
I think a fight vs Bivol would be at 175...

Re: Canelo-Plant falling apart; Canelo-Bivol being eyed
A few months back, about the time Canelo dropped the 175 belt, Reynoso said there were no plans to return to 175. Pretty sure they would hold Bivol to an earlier offer to fight at 168.
Re: Canelo-Plant falling apart; Canelo-Bivol being eyed
They've been talking about LHW lately and Canelo has said he wants Beterbiev. He seems pretty beefed up (pun intended) now and I suspect he'll be at 168-175 the next few years.
Re: Canelo-Plant falling apart; Canelo-Bivol being eyed
Bivol has said repeatedly 168 is no problem for him for a big fight. He's not a big lightheavy. It could be a catch weight for Bivol's trinket or 168. Either would be fine to me.
LOL @ Plant thinking he has pull in negotiations. What's Plant's biggest purse to date? He is barely relevant. Plant should stfu and sign as quickly as he can and be grateful for the opportunity. What is his fallback option, A PBC showcase vs Dirrell for maybe a million bucks? He has shown no interest in risking his trinket vs Benavidez for a quarter of the purse Canelo would give him.

Bivol is the better fight as it is.....Small Light Heavy But Skilled

Re: CANELO vs PLANT Saturday
Plant is a runner that has no killer instinct...NONE.
He won't be able to keep Canelo off of him at all.
He's taller...but also much leaner. Canelo dominates these tall, lanky, skinny guys.
He will punish Plant to the body and eventually stop him.
He will make it look easy.

Canelo will pollinate Plant inside of 6
Re: CANELO vs PLANT Saturday
I'm warming to this fight a little. Not sure what's changed in my mind or why but I'm starting to think Plant might make it interesting.
Re: CANELO vs PLANT Saturday
I'm excited for it. Plant is a good slick boxer that moves well, sticks a good jab and stays busy with sharp combinations. I think it goes 12 and at the very least is competitive. Canelo has improved over the years but he's never been impressive against movers. I think he'll get the decision based on landing the more eye catching punches but won't look too comfortable.
