Bob Arum says planned summer date for Fury-Joshua is “dead in the water”
https://www.badlefthook.com/2021/4/29/2 ... -news-2021
Eddie Hearn has repeatedly insisted that Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua is all but signed, but Bob Arum isn’t convinced. He tells the Telegraph that the fight won’t land in the summer and may not even take place this year due to ongoing negotiations.
“It will take months for the Saudis to do their due diligence on such a huge deal. It is not just a site fee, there are ancillary demands from the Saudis stretching into the broadcast deals and other things, it could take months for it all to play out. It could even take until 2022 the way it looks right now. The fight in July or August is dead in the water as far as we are concerned. The two fighters need to go and have other fights this summer while the negotiations for that fight in the Middle East conclude.”
Frankly, Fury (30-0-1, 21 KO) and Joshua (24-1, 22 KO) should have already taken interim fights; Fury’s sitting on 14 months of inactivity and WBO mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk appears stuck in limbo while they figure out Joshua’s next move. We already saw Pacquiao-Crawford tank when the Middle Eastern money failed to materialize, and from where I’m sitting, Arum’s pessimism looks a lot more convincing than Hearn’s optimism.
If it’s this difficult to put such an obvious fight together under these circumstances, then don’t hold their careers hostage while you try to muddle through it all.

The fighters he's beaten aren't even household names in their own household.
"Never shall innocent blood be shed. Yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river. The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of god."

As much as a lot of supposed fans would love for the fight not to happen, I still think it will take place this year. If you look at Arum's history of comments, he goes back and forth with stuff like this. Next week he'll probably say it's on.
So far, the signs have been good and both fighters have openly said they've agreed to most terms. There is absolutely massive money involved in this and it's a huge financial win for both teams.
This is just the typical stuff you get with these huge fights.

I don't think any fans don't want this fight to happen. I think most everybody, WANTS this fight to happen, and it's one of the best fights to be made in boxing in a long time. The fight should have been signed, sealed, and delivered, at least a month or two ago. These two should be fighting no later June.As much as a lot of supposed fans would love for the fight not to happen, I still think it will take place this year. I think people are just tired of the constant wavering and bullshit, when it comes to the sport. Not just this fight, but many fights that should have happened, and have not happened over the years.

Arum needs to retire. He is becoming a detriment to his company.

kind of an unwanted bad choice of expression with their fighter, Verdejo in a bad situation...

It sucks that this fight is not going to happen.

Arum also said Wilder's rematch clause had expired and that Wilder didn't have a legal leg to stand on, so....
