This would be kind of interesting to me just for the intrigue. Mayweather-McGregor wasn’t really because it seemed obvious Mayweather would dominate him, but De la Hoya’s been out of it long enough that I’m actually curious if he could still win, and seeing either guy get beat up one way or another would be fun.

I'd want this to happen just so I can call Oscar a hypocrite.

Oscar is the one that made the challenge in the first place. It's gonna be funny to me when he's the one that backs out on his own challenge.

And I think he'd win. That's why Oscar will back out of it.TheSickness316 wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 10:07 pmYou know what will make this funny? Conor would be the A-side. Lol

Oscar could make a ton of money here... but he needs to take this seriously if it's happening...

Re: McGregor vs De la Hoya now boxing
Hell apparently everybody does. Seems like everybody and their Uncle is making a comeback, or at least talking about it.
So far there's been rumors of Mike Tyson, Sergio Martinez, Marcos Maidana, Floyd Mayweather, and now this in the last few months
Now while I'm sure most of those comebacks ain't actually happening the fact that it's all being talked about points to either.
A) Everybody is at least thinking about
Or, the far more likely
B) With no Boxing to talk about, people are just pulling rumors out of their ass to get people to click on their Boxing related websites. True or not.

I think Conor would win too. Better yet, what weight would it be at?gilgamesh wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 11:04 pmAnd I think he'd win. That's why Oscar will back out of it.TheSickness316 wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 10:07 pmYou know what will make this funny? Conor would be the A-side. Lol

He took his fight with Cerrone serious. In fact, before this whole pandemic happened, he was in talks to fight Justin Gaethje in July. And he's texted Dana about possibly fighting on Fight Island (UFC bought an island to hold fights for fighters who can't fly into the states) in possibly July if things go well with the ppv tomorrow

They might do a catchweight or something, but if they're shooting for a traditional weight class it'd probably be 160.TheSickness316 wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 7:33 amI think Conor would win too. Re: McGregor vs De la Hoya now boxing
Conor's last fight was done at 170. So 160 could be done on his side because he says he will take fights at 155 or with 170. But it makes me wonder what Oscar is weighing these days.gilgamesh wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 9:45 amThey might do a catchweight or something, but if they're shooting for a traditional weight class it'd probably be 160.TheSickness316 wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 7:33 amI think Conor would win too. Yeah I woudn't be surprised if it were a catchweight of 165 or whatever.
I'll be more surprised if Oscar actually goes through with it. To me it's gonna be funny when he backs out on his own challenge because he realized he was talking out of his ass.
Probably drunk or something when he said it.

Today
Oscar De La Hoya: "For the record: McGregor, I never challenged you. I was just asked a question and I simply spoke the truth..."

Re: McGregor vs De la Hoya now boxing
At this point yes. If they were both in their prime, absolutely not.
But Conor is 31 years old, still an active participant in Combat sports, and still more or less in his physical fighting prime.
Oscar is 47 years old. Has been retired for 12 years, and has probably indulged a whole lot on various substances over the course of those 12 years, and while he may have maintained a reasonable level of fitness, it's been a long, long time I'd imagine since he was in fighting shape.
If Oscar tried to "Take him out in 2 rounds" like he boldly claimed, I think he'd gas himself out, and he'd proceed to get beat up after that.

I'm with MilMan - I dunno about all of this taking Conor stuff...
DLH didn't just forget how to box and he is one of the best to ever do it. I think Conor would need to knock him out, and it is different with gloves.
