Aside Manny vs. Floyd... What Fight Didn't Live Up To The Hype?
What is a fight in either boxing or MMA, that was either a relatively big fight, or a fight you were excited to see that didn't live up to the hype?

Floyd's destruction of Manny was fantastic, what are you talking about?

Hopkins vs De La Hoya was pretty boring. Even the KO wasn't exactly satisfying. I mean it got the job done, but it's certainly not one you'll be seeing on highlight reels.

Pac-Barrera II.
I think Barrera was saying his loss in the first fight was a fluke or something to that effect. Then in the rematch we saw something we rarely ever saw from Barrera...he didn't want to trade with Manny at all. He was just in there for the payday and seemed like all he wanted to do was get out of there without embarrassing himself.
I was never more disappointed in a Barrera performance than that night. At least in the first fight he went out on his shield. In the second fight he wanted no part of getting into any real exchanges with Manny.

De La Hoya/Tito. That fight never got out of first gear. Mostly De La Hoya boxing well and Tito never really trying to press, then the last 3 rounds of watching a track meet.

Tapia/Romero
Left Hook/Calzaghe
Hopkins/Tito
I had thought these fights might be relatively competitive, but not at all. Not at all.

Left hook got his ass kicked lol. So it lived up to Joe Cal. Imo the floyd Manny fight went how most thought. Sure if they were younger it could have been more action but it wasn't. I rewatched it last week and it was closer than i remembered. But i feel most who say they didn't like the fight was hoping Manny would win. Also that was a BS excuse about hus shoulder just take the L

I have a feeling we will say the same if we get Spence Crawford. I didn't think the first GGG Canelo fight was that great

Leonard vs Duran III - Snoozefest
Hagler vs Duran - Over-hyped chessmatch
Mayweather vs Baldomir - God Awful
Hopkins vs Winky Wright - Absolute agony

Hop v wright was better than i expected actually. I was thinking the other day of great fighters with almost no rewatchability...... hopkins and ward came to mind

May-Pac ticks most boxes for an unentertaining fight: no drama, no sustained action, not overly competitive and lacking momentum shifts, pretty much the same thing over and over and over. It's easy not to like that fight no matter what you think of either fighter, though I'm sure some the defeat made it worse for some Pac fans and the win made it better for Floyd fans.dwightmac83 wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 6:55 pm Left hook got his ass kicked lol. I wanted Wlad to beat David Haye, but Wlad winning doesn't change the fact that it was a poor fight for many of the same reasons May-Pac was.

I thought both of the Lewis/Holyfield fights were disappointing, though after the Holyfield/ Bowe trilogy, maybe my hopes were just too high
