To the surprise of nobody, the WBC has ordered an immediate rematch between heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury after their controversial first meeting.

From head honcho Mauricio Sulaiman:

“Wilder and Fury gave boxing one of the best fights in the heavyweight division in a long time, which has created tremendous popular demand from fans to see a rematch,” Sulaiman said. “The WBC is happy to confirm that a direct rematch has been approved and will create in a ruling which will also consider the mandatory status of the division.

”I wish to once again congratulate Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury for their great battle inside the ring and for the exemplary sportsmanship after the bout.”
Longtime mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale will have to content himself with his December 22nd bout opposite Carlos Negron.

This was a no-brainer, obviously, and it’s honestly still an intriguing fight. Wilder (40-0-1, 39 KO) struggled with Fury’s (27-0-1, 19 KO) movement throughout, but appeared to find a home for his hook as the fight went along. Fury, meanwhile, learned that he could hurt Wilder, rattling him with a right hand after the cataclysmic knockdown in the final round. Both have room to evolve their gameplans.

There’s still quite a bit for the two sides to figure out, chief among them location, but we’ll keep you guys posted every step of the way. For now, let’s baselessly speculate about every aspect of the rematch and try to figure out who Anthony Joshua’s going to fight while these two go at it.
The fighters he's beaten aren't even household names in their own household.

"Never shall innocent blood be shed. Yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river. The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of god."
