Adonis Stevenson in critical condition

Post by Canvas »

Rafael saying on twitter Adonis is in a Quebec City hospital and is in critical condition. Terrible news. Let's hope for the best.

Yikes

Was a hard KO to watch with the way he just sagged to the canvas.

Read that...downside of inactivity and fighting at a championship level. Hope he's ok.

I dont really care who wins fights but ive always disliked Stevenson and was elated to see uim knocked out. He always seemed unrepentant of his past.

Hope hes ok dont want to see anyone seriously injured

Hope he makes a full recovery. Never liked the guy, but I wouldn't wish this on him.

I always just worry about how it looks for the sport when something like this happens.

Not necessarily......some fighters make pretty much full recoveries from brain bleeds. Luck plays a big part and speed of the medical assistance. Lets hope he got the critical care in time and he'll be okay and able to live a normal life.

It depends on the extent his brain was damaged and then luck really. Some fighters are more or less ok after it. It seems this was handled promptly where magos care was delayed due to incompetence.

karma has a way of coming around.. he was far from a good person.
"He's a fighter, I'm a fighter, if I'm better on that day, I win. That's just the way it goes. Someday, every fighter loses. Sooner or later, somebody comes along and they got your ticket. Too old, just wasn't your day, whatever the reason is. In the end, everybody gets beaten. The most you can hope for is that you stay on top a while. Be the best."

Yeah let's not speculate on his condition until we have more facts. There have been outcomes like Joe Mesi and ones like Mago.

Update: Craniocerebral trauma. Stevenson is out of a coma, but now on a respirator.

The doctor's statement I read makes it sound like he's still in a coma and that it's hard to say how he'll end up. It didn't exactly give hope despite earlier talk of improvement.

Ya, Adonis did some terrible things, but I don't think this is ever good for the sport.

Personally don't really care much about Adonis one way or another but for his wife and kid's (he has 5) sake I hope he recovers at least enough to care for himself. Gerald Mcclellan wasn't a particularly nice fellow either but the suffering his brain injury has brought on his family is extremely tragic no matter how you might feel about the man himself.

I pray and hope Stevenson makes it out of this an fully recovers. Saturday was such an amazing boxing night and had the ultimate up (WilderVsFury) and the ultimate low w/ Stevenson's injury news. Nothing but good vibes his way.
