Deontay Wilder should move on from Anthony Joshua
There are rumors coming out that Hearn is set to offer team Wilder 12% of the split, take it or leave it. What a slap in the face, especially after Joseph Parker was given 33% of the pie. All he's asking for is a respectable offer. If this is indeed true, Wilder needs to just move on and work toward surpassing Marciano's record. No sense in being slow-played and disrespected by Hearn any longer.

I hear Marco Huck is available.Papa1472002 wrote:There are rumors coming out that Hearn is set to offer team Wilder 12% of the split, take it or leave it. No way Hearn is that stupid.
Everyone would turn on Joshua... then again U.K. fans seem like the “my favorite fighter can do no wrong” type

I hope it's just a rumor. Joshua wants the fight next...but Hearn doesn't seem to keen on it.
Re: Deontay Wilder should move on from Anthony Joshua
As long as Joshua is on board to accept the same offer if Wilder wins and there is a rematch. I had heard the offer was $12.5 million, don't know what percentage that would turn out to be in the end. Seems like it might be about 12%

Where do the rumours come from? I've seen a bunch of different supposed offers, so at least some of them are BS that people are too easily buying into.

You think this is a $100m fight?Cagiva9 wrote:As long as Joshua is on board to accept the same offer if Wilder wins and there is a rematch. I had heard the offer was $12.5 million, don't know what percentage that would turn out to be in the end. Seems like it might be about 12%

And from notable publications I've seen the same as Cagiva, it's a $12.5 million flat fee offer.

I'm thinking that it will do at least as well as Parker/Joshua did in the UK, probably better and after adding a US market, which was nearly nonexistent for Parker/Joshua, 100m is not too crazy a guess.Tocsin wrote:You think this is a $100m fight?Cagiva9 wrote:As long as Joshua is on board to accept the same offer if Wilder wins and there is a rematch. Re: Deontay Wilder should move on from Anthony Joshua
Wilder should take a 33%, then if he wins, he can dictate the rematch percentage. Wilder just needs this fight to spark up his stardom in the sport. If AJ goes through with this fight, he's gonna get crushed.

Wilder should stand firm and not settle. This IS his payday.

With this being the first offer I'd think the amount could increase significantly. Pretty standard for the first offer to be the lowest, even when 'final offer' / 'take it or leave it' is used. Same thing happened with Parker.
To me it's at least a minor positive that an offer was made. Finkel has said they will respond with a counter. There is a little bit of momentum.

If the deal is for 12+ millions, he should take it... He has a shot at greatness, could beat Joshua and do twice as much in a rematch on his own terms... maybe make more huge paydays vs Fury or Whyte...
Otherwise he can continue fighting in USA for 2 millions per fight... WOuld take more than 6 defenses to get the same money and lets face it... this is HW boxing and Wilder is beatable so doubt it happens... could be injuries... or just getting caught
IMO the A option is MUCH More interesting in all aspects.

I think he should just make a reasonable counter offer like. 15 Million or 17 Million. They'd probably go for that.
Re: Deontay Wilder should move on from Anthony Joshua
It’s a lame offer BUT what is Wilder’s alternative?

That was my point... his alternatives are MUCH shittier and actually riskier imo in that he might not even get 13millions in earnings in the remaining part of his career and will have to fight multiple times to get even close.
Re: Deontay Wilder should move on from Anthony Joshua
In terms of a specific $ amount, what would be fair?

He should stick to his guns.
What the sport has shown us is that big fights happen. And waiting usually makes the payday bigger.
So they offer him 12 now, he should walk away.
They'll make the fight sometime and then it'll be possibly 40 or 50.
MayPac went from a 50mil fight to a 500mil fight.
Other examples of waiting are MayMosley... TysonLewis... DLHMay... SRLHagler...
This is supposed to be his most lucrative fight... then he should wait until the offer is right.
Hell even if Joshua gets beat... he could get a better percentage and it'll be more than 12m.
In the meantime his profile is growing. Those 2 mil paydays will turn into 5... not like there's many out there who will beat him.

That's not how business is handled in boxing.
Re: Deontay Wilder should move on from Anthony Joshua
There's no answer to that question? If they outright offered him $20m we couldnt say whether it was reasonable or not?
Re: Deontay Wilder should move on from Anthony Joshua
It's a good point but imo it won't get PPV status outside UK and so for that reason, i think the marketing side and money generated is close to max. Not sure it will help to simmer the matchup as long as MayPac in that it's not a world wide expected fight THAT much. In America, not sure it gets much bigger because Wilder is still fighting relatively unappealing fights and hasn't even started to get on PPV. Showtime will maybe pay a little more (they already buy Joshua fights) to buy the fight if they wait a little but a 5pm east fight just can't be PPV in America.theVAMP wrote:He should stick to his guns.
