Interested in what the board has to say. I'll comment after I hear the views.

My most overrated fighter (overrated by me) was Michael Grant. In my mind anyway, Ibeabuchi gets the prize for most often overrated by the rest of the boxing watching world.

Honorable mention goes to Gerry Cooney. After the Norton fight I remember Roy Firestone proclaiming Gerry the greatest, greater than Ali he said

Ike is a good one....

for me it really just depends on the group of people you talk to.....Lots proclaim SRR as untouchable....however I think Greb has a damn good case on him....

Marciano by a sect of Fans aswell....

Fury might end up in the conversation... because he beat Wlad... and is after all pretty bad... He is entertaining as hell though i'll give him that.. but imo he is BAD and people were putting way too much on what he did vs what Wlad didn't

Zab Judah. Every time hed fight an elite fighter a solid portion of the board would pick him for some reason.

James Toney is massively overrated. Great skills but he lost fights an elite fighter should never lose and his resurgence was all thanks to PED usage.

joe calzaghe his resume is soft as grapes
"He's a fighter, I'm a fighter, if I'm better on that day, I win. That's just the way it goes. Someday, every fighter loses. Sooner or later, somebody comes along and they got your ticket. Too old, just wasn't your day, whatever the reason is. In the end, everybody gets beaten. The most you can hope for is that you stay on top a while. Be the best."

He fought some soft touches over his long reign, but he also fought all the major players of his era.
Nothing wrong with his resume.

Not a fan of Calzaghe but to go along with what you said, almost every fighter has soft touches on their resume. It's how boxing is done now. They use the soft touches to pad their records. Calzaghe is no different then any other fighter in that regard.
The fighters he's beaten aren't even household names in their own household.

Soft touches and cherry picking is how it was always done in boxing, arguably recognized as the best ever SRR had a 120 bums on his resume, all great fighters like Monzon Chavez etc guys with a big number of fights fought mostly cans with an average of going in with 20 or so top fighters if that some make a name of fighting only 2-3 big names.
You cannot fight the best one after the other for a long career, have a look at GGG he hasn't fought any elite guys maybe a WW and was hyped as the ATG MW by some people.

He does definitely get quite overrated. It really irks me to hear him referred to frequently as the Greatest Mexican Fighter whenever there are at least 5 or so in my mind that are better.

That goes without saying, everyone knows that.

Personally, I think Aaron Pryor gets overrated by many.
Pryor at his best was a monster, and he was/is one of my favorite fighters.

But I do think there are some aspects of him being overrated and over-hyped, when people bring up him beating SRL. SRL would have taken him to school....
