Re: Walters/Marriaga
2 Battles of Unbeatens back to back. It's gonna be sweet. Especially Walters vs Marriaga. Unbeaten Punchers almost always make for fun fights.
Re: Walters/Marriaga
With the amateur history between the two, that is what makes it intriguing for me otherwise i think Walters will win pretty easy

Re: Walters/Marriaga
Not to look past this fight, especially considering the two fighter's history and Marriaga's wins over the Jamaican Assassin in the amateurs, but it looks like an eventual(hopefully next) showdown between Lomachenko and Walter's could be next up. Walter's sounds like he wants it here: http://www.boxingscene.com/walters-want ... -it--92127
Re: Walters/Marriaga
Reminds me a little of Thurman/Chaves and Chaves was surprisingly (at least to me) tough in that one. Walters is definitely, from what I've seen, a technically superior fighter.

Re: Walters/Marriaga
I'm really looking forward to these fights too. I just watched Walters-Donaire again today....what a performance by Walters.
Re: Walters/Marriaga
Don't think the pace or the body work of Marriaga will be a problem for Walters... In fact imo Marriaga will for the first time in the pros not be the aggressor which will be problematic for him IMOCagiva9 wrote:Reminds me a little of Thurman/Chaves and Chaves was surprisingly (at least to me) tough in that one. I love that left hook to the body. That could be the game changer right there.the13r wrote:Don't think the pace or the body work of Marriaga will be a problem for Walters... Re: Walters/Marriaga
Seanie monaghan has a cult following at his fights in ny. He's never in a boring fight.the13r wrote:This is the best card of the week!
The old monaghan would've made it a WAR vs Zuniga but now he is a little more reserved and looking to body punch... taking steps back to not waste as much... Should still be interesting.
I like Mike Reed also on the undercard.

Walters Missed Weight
Walters didn't make weight vs Marriaga. Coming in at 127.4.
Maybe someone has already posted this. I bet we see Walters jump to 130.

EDIT: At time of the report he still had two hours to make the limit.

Re: Walters Missed Weight
Well that sucks. I hope this doesn't put the hopeful Walters vs Loma in Dubai fight in Jeopardy.

Re: Walters Missed Weight
I'm not sure if it is for sure or not, but it was one of Arum's big plans for later in the year apparently.
Re: Walters Missed Weight
They said he had 2 hours to lose the weight on the broadcast so wonder if that is still effective or the 2 hours delay is now over... i think he still has time

Re: Walters Missed Weight
Probably so. Which reminds that the day before Walters-Donaire, Arum promised Loma's next fight would be with the winner. This is apparently the second straight featherweight mega-fight he's blown, the other being Gamboa-Lopez.gilgamesh wrote:Well that sucks. Re: Walters Missed Weight
This is the kind of shit that happens when Loma-Walters should be fighting this week, or should have already fought by now...

Walters re-weighed at 127. Did not make weight. Title vacant. Fight still on though. Really a disappointment. #boxing

Re: Walters Missed Weight
Totally blows.
Re: Walters Missed Weight
They should have just declared it a non title bout and set a catch of 128.5

Re: Walters Missed Weight
Title is vacant Rasta... and Marriaga already made weight so...
Re: Walters Missed Weight
The vacant title will be available to Marriaga only. He wins- he's the new WBA "super" champ. Walters wins- the "super" title remains vacant.
Last week, it was Oosthuizen forfeiting his IBO belt on the scales; this week, Walters kisses his WBA belt goodbye.

Yeah I know. I was being a little sarcastic and facetious. If only his name was Garciathe13r wrote:Title is vacant Rasta... and Marriaga already made weight so...
No but this is not all that surprising to me. Unprofessional but not surprising. He used feather as a jumping off point and given his size was not going to stay.
