I'm going with Bivol by decision. I think Zurdo just gets hit too easily.

Yeah zurdo needs to get in close to bring the quantity... counter jab from Bivol will screw that plan!

Bivol has the better defense. Smith could not hardly hit him and I don’t think that Zurdo will have any better luck.

Bivol pretty dominate with fast accurate combos thus far

R1 set the tone. Landed straights in combos, head and body. Zurdo's shots from distance aren't very efficient at this level. Bivol looked even quicker when Zurdo's footwork became sloppily... became a straight hand clinic. Zurdo in the end too slow and not effective enough from distance

It was so nice to watch a fight I was actually interested in seeing. It doesn't happen often enough. It lived up to the anticipation. Brilliant performance by Bivol. It was a good card except for the damn female fight.

I had the same score. I thought Zurdo was going to make this a good fight, but Bivol countered him at will when Zurdo came in to attack, and Bivol was constantly hurting him early in the fight. Zurdo was out of position a lot when he committed to his shots, and was getting hit cleanly by Bivol as he was so much faster with his feet and hands. Just a bad match up for Zurdo. Zurdo should have sold out and made it a brawl, and should have lost by going out on his shield. Def would have made for a better fight.

Did this make Bivol fighter of the year? I believe so.

Years ago in an interview, Ramirez had detailed how he and Benavidez had Bivol and Canelo in (seperate) camps, and they would both work Canelo and Bivol in sparring. Seems like Bivol was holding back a lot in those camps lol

Maybe Bivol wasn’t sending much back and was only concentrating on defense. If so, it was time well spent.

Or maybe Ramirez was full of crap about how sparring went

Bivol must be frontrunner for FOTY now

I think the full of crap part is accurate but I Also think Bivol gained confidence and upgraded his work rate in recent years

Okay sure, your answer is more likely correct but I liked my explanation better. Not only did it seem more interesting that Bivol would be holding back during sparring to set up a win later but it cut Ramirez some slack and Ramirez is already having kind of a tough week.

1. Bivol is really good...always has been.

2. Bivol is just another fighter to expose the heavy-footed, having to be set to punch, Mexican Style that has been praised to high heaven lately.
