Rampage Jackson's Bellator Contract

Post by Primetyme199 »

As I have stated previously MMA fighters get paid more and other things then what's reported to the Commissions.

Rampage Jackson's Bellator contract.

Bellator MMA is taking Quinton "Rampage" Jackson to court over whether the fighter is legally obligated to keep fighting for the world's #2 fight league. Jackson says the Viacom-owned company breached their contract, allowing him to re sign with the UFC, who he once grudgingly described as "the devil you know." Viacom says he owes the remaining three fights on his six-fight contract.

Rampage is scheduled to fight Fabio Maldonado at UFC 186 on April 25. Bellator MMA is seeking an injunction to prevent the fight; the hearing is scheduled on April 2.

Jackson argues that his contract required that he be informed of PPV buy figures, with a 45-day window to resolve disputes. He argues further that he was not informed of PPV buys, and the dispute was never resolved, thus negating the contract.

Viacom argues that Spike president Kevin Kay provided Jackson's manager Anthony McGann the PPV figures "shortly after the fight" and that the contract remains in effect. They further claims that Jackson did not give them required written notice of the UFC's offer, or honor the required 12-month right to match offers.

Newsday's Mark Monica acquired a copy of the complaint, which details Jackson's remarkable compensation at Bellator, which included:

•A 2013 Tesla Sport worth $129,603;
•An additional $100,000 signing bonus;
*Guaranteed fight purses beginning at $200,000 and maxing out at $300,000 for non-PPV fights.
•$4 for every pay-per-view buy over 190,000;
•$200,000 and $450,000 for a pay-per-view fight. (Kay said at one point that buys for Bellator's sole PPV were over 100,000; the complaint says Jackson received a $200,000 bonus even though PPV did not reach the requisite level);
•$50,000 in the event that he did not receive a certain revenue amount from sponsorships.Jackson would receive 30 percent of net gate receipts received by Bellator above $400,000 for any fight in which he participated.
•$35,000 per episode of the four-episode "Rampage 4 Real" reality program.
•Retaining of a screenwriter to work directly with Jackson to develop a potential feature film project.
•Direct access to and communications with Viacom-owned Paramount Pictures in an attempt to develop film opportunities for Jackson. Jackson did in fact meet with Paramount's president Adam Goodman according to the filing.
•A red carpet appearance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
•Over $250,000 was paid for one commercial promoting the fight.
•$200,000 was paid to secure the rights for a Rolling Stones song in connection with marketing Jackson.

Bellator's suit also says Jackson was a "diminished" fighter at the time of his signing, and that Bellator "rebuilt Jackson's reputation in the MMA industry."

Scott Coker, former head of now-defunct Strikeforce, replaced Rebney as the head of Bellator in June 2014.
The fighters he's beaten aren't even household names in their own household.

"Never shall innocent blood be shed. Yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river. The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of god."
