One Last Grill Session.

Post by CageyVeteran »

Autumn is officially here (according to the calendar) and some guy on Facebook keeps posting vids and pics of his bbq'd food. I want to do one last grill session before it gets cold. Winter is coming.

Ha! I'm kidding. I live in Texas and lately even the winters have been pretty warm enough to grill. I haven't decided on what to do. I want to do the picnic ham again, that was freakin' awesome. I might flake out and do ribs again though. Stick with what I know.

Sorry I didn't post any pics for all you food porn fans. I kind of rushed through this.

I stopped by Walmart on my way home, there was so much traffic I took a back road which probably wasn't any faster. It took me by Walmart and spur of the moment I decided to do ribs on the weekend.

I saw a decent slab, a whole slab not St. Louis cut for $15. I used to think this was a a good deal, I've bought $20 slabs before. But I saw a picnic shoulder for the same price. I got that instead because it's more meat.

I cooked to internal temp of 190, because my brother stopped by and we were hungry. Not so much pulled pork as it was shreded could've sliced them into pieces. Think that's how some recipes go, 190 to slice 200 for pull.

Anyway, tasted good in the end.

Next time think I'll keep it simple and do a prime steak. I don't think I've ever bought a prime cut before but since that kobe/wagyu talk I want to see what's the hubub. Saw a video of some guys buying a $10, $40, and a $306 steak to compare. Wish I had that job.

I'm glad your pork was tasty and I'm sure you guys enjoyed it...... Grilling outside here in WA state has been hard to do these last few weeks ; it's rained nearly everyday.... But tomorrow it's gonna be partly sunny highs in the low 60's so, I'm gonna fire up my BBQ and grill some sirloins.... :D Speaking of Prime steaks has anybody tried those Omaha steaks? I had a discount w/ my ACF membership so I got a little combo pack.. Regular price was $99.99 but I paid $69.99 + shipping... Other than the small portions I found the steaks to be very tasty... Anybody else try these steaks and such? Here's a link if anybody is interested...

Veteran's Day coming up. This Texas weather is staying some what warm. I saw in Virginia it got down to 45 couple of days ago and it was pushing 80 where I stay.

I have a Facebook friend who posts food all the time, the only food that looks good is his bbq, his regular dishes don't look good at all. Maybe it's his presentation, but I don't think to myself "I want to try that".

Anyway, I'm thinking ribs. Those are easy to do. But my cousin is coming into town and he's Muslim. I might do beef ribs again.

There's a terrific recipe for beef ribs in this link/thread tried and true by TTR members w/ a bit of an Asian flair..... 8) It's going to be partly sunny w/ a high of 64 here in WA on Saturday so, I'm gonna fire up my BBQ this weekend too.... 8) Click on the link and scroll down the thread and you'll find the recipe.... http://www.the13thround.com/phpBB2/view ... 73&t=74894

Well, I didn't grill like I said I would. Just too damn lazy.

Went to some German Brew Haus (burger joint why is it called a brew house?) and was not impressed. Paid almost $10 for a "Texas" Cheeseteak, it was good but not $10 good, what made it Texas style was the put spicy cheese and I think a jalapeno in it, problem was they didn't space it out all the spicyness was in one part. I had a $6.48 burger from Dairy Queen that was way better.

I stupidly looked up bacon after reading an article on bacon. Made me hungry. I wonder if you can grill bacon. I've broiled a few in the oven, was faster and way less greasy.

I want to grill something quick as practice before Thanksgiving (I've stopped calling it Turkeyday). I'm going to smoke a brisket or maybe another shoulder or some ribs. I'm really thinking bacon just for the fun of it.

I got the front yard done but my backyard has got a blanket of leaves I haven't removed yet... They are everywhere all over my patio furniture and gas grill.... I don't have a smoker but next spring that could be my next culinary endeavor.... Pork shoulder is on sale here so, I was going to do some Pork Carnitas tacos for this weekend.... As always, happy cooking and thanks for contributing to the food and drink forum CV.... :D Here's my recipe for carnitas tacos if you're interested bro... http://www.the13thround.com/phpBB2/view ... t=carnitas

I don't know if I can do a real recipe. I mostly do simple stuff, shake bottles of simple ingredients over stuff and apply heat. You can't mess it up. I'll try but I don't wanna mess it up.

Just got my smoker and set it up, going to season it today and make a chicken tomorrow. Then I'm moving on to pork loin and ribs.
