If you've never had one, you're in for a treat..... Try the double double w/ fries and get them "animal style"...... :D

Yeah, I have a feeling it's mostly hype. You know San Antonio is a fatty's paradise. We had this place called Krystal Burger, people used to line up around the block to try it. It actually sucked and closed down, but for some reason these people petitioned to keep it open. They did for like 4 months.

DQ does have some good food, but I rarely go there even though I'm walking distance from one. I'm going to start going from now on. But I'm going to try it at least once. I have a feeling it'll be the same as Five Guys, Burgers and Fries and Smash Burger.

Yeah, because when you cut fresh potatoes directly over the fryers and cook them immediately w/ precise temperatures, time & seasonings well, that makes them a lot worse than Whataburger's frozen jobs.... :?

I think it's kinda weird you say that because at every In and Out Burger they cut their fresh "skin on" potatoes directly over their fryers and as they fall into the hot oil the fries are then cooked and served immediately w/ precise time, temperatures and seasoning......

Sorry stench, I didn't realize I could delete somebody else post here, I meant to delete my own... Anyways, Here was my response to you saying you didn't like In and Out Burger's steak cut fries....

I hate to call you on your BS my fellow TTR brother, but I'm beginning to think you've never even eaten at In and Out Burger.... They only make shoe string cut fries then they can put some other stuff on them like the "animal style" fries I referred to... Those have I think TI dressing, grilled onions & melted cheese.... Pics included....

stenchasaurous wrote:Fries they served me were definitely not shoestring and close to 1/2" in diameter. Last ate there at the In n Out on Airport Blvd near I-35 in Austin on Mother's Day, May 8 this year, when I was back in town for a wedding. And this was me giving them a second chance after a night of drinking, when in theory it should have seemed even more delicious. Burgers are just OK, and the fries are trash.
Fair enough.... Really to me there are no right or wrong answers when it comes to food.... Some of us grow food but we all buy food, make food and eat food whether at home or when we go out... So, in a sense we're all food critics because we all know what we like.... The fun part is when you like something and share it and your friends and family they like it as much as you do....

As always, happy cooking!

I view burgers in two classes:

Fast food burgers

"Gourmet" burgers

Fast food: Burgerville cheeseburger is a local favorite. Five Guys and Carl's Jr. and good ones too. I think the Whopper or double with cheese is underrated.

Gourmet: I recently had a burger at the Pilot Butte Drive In Restaurant in Bend Oregon. It makes the best burger lists in Oregon. If you're ever in Bend, stop and have one of their burgers. You'll be glad you did.

Never sold on In & Out, the burgers seam bland, no variety as far as just an ordinary burger with double or triple option. The fries just ain't fried enough for me. The menu looks like a blown up index card.
And why the secret menu?

Shake Shack is too expensive and I can get Better Custard Ice Cream from Rita's. In and Out has my go to burger which is animal style/ Protein Style. It's great.
